Happy Fall SRES Families,

We had a BUSY week!  Our MAP assessments went well and we have started to analyze the data to determine students’ strengths and needs, and ultimately, to guide our instruction.  Our safety drills also went very well; students followed all expectations!  SRES students are AWESOME!!!

  • Next week music will replace art as Mr. P heads to Central Elementary and Mrs. Daigneault comes to SRES for the next three weeks.  Thank you, Mr. P for your work at SRES during the first three weeks of school!
  • When your student is absent on his/her in-person days, please know that it is not always possible to get you work they can do at home that day as teachers are teaching throughout the day.  As a general rule, we will follow the same procedure we had in place prior to COVID:  when a student is absent on a given day, he/she will need to make up the work upon their return to school.  (Extended absences are supported on a case-by-case basis.) Please reach out with your questions.
  • School pictures:  Local photographer, Kristi Lisai, will be taking our school photos outside this year.  The dates are:  October 12th (Group A), October 15th (Group B).  Paperwork will come home next week.
  • Parent/School Compact:  Title 1, Part A Parent Involvement Policy (E1) requires that all schools who use Federal Title1 money develop and implement a home-school compact that outlines the role each of us (school, parent/guardian, and student) needs to play in order to support students’ education, social environment and healthy development.  This compact will be coming home next week and will be discussed with students during the school day.  We strongly encourage you to review this with your child(ren).  Compacts are voluntary agreements between students, parents, teachers/staff that help support students’ academic success and social-emotional well-being.
  • SRES School Newsletter:  Beginning next week, we will begin a schoolwide newsletter!
  • SRES Handbook:  Our handbook is posted on our website.  If you would like a hard copy, please let us know and we will print one for you.

From our PTO:

  • Reading challenge:  Our PTO will once again sponsor the Reading Challenge!  Thank you to Jackie Johnson for coordinating this special learning opportunity.  Forms will be sent home and will also be available on our website.  Students may submit forms monthly and Jackie will maintain a log of total pages read.  Students will be acknowledged and rewarded at school once they have achieved specified benchmarks.
  • Water bottles:  SRES’ PTO purchased a water bottle for every student!  These will be labeled and distributed next week.

Looking forward to Week 4!!  Have a fabulous weekend!

Your partner in education,

Laura Hazard
