Dear SRES Families,

What a busy week this has been as we prepare for our reopening!  A school truly isn’t a school until it is filled with students and we are so looking forward to welcoming our students on September 8th!

Thank you to those who were able to attend our Family Zoom Q&A session.  Lots of great questions were asked!

Updates (there is a lot of information...PLEASE CAREFULLY READ!)

  • 1.  A few amendments have been made to our Reopening Plan (Saxtons River Reopening Plan 8.26.20.docx.pdf ).  The document can also be found on our website and/or FB page.  Key amendments include:

    • ALL health screenings will take place at school, even for those who ride the bus.

      • Students who ride the bus will be screened as they exit the bus.

    • Remote learning time expectations are as follows (these are the same as during dismissal in the spring):

      • Kindergarten and 1st grade:  60 minutes

      • 2nd and 3rd grade: 90 minutes

      • 4th grade: 120 minutes

      • The time above includes Morning Meeting and Wednesday specials (PE and library).

      • The time above does not include any interventions students may receive.

  • 2.  Save the date!  Classroom teachers will be reaching out to families to share a Zoom link to a Virtual Classroom Open House. This is a great opportunity for families and students to meet the classroom teacher, “see” the classroom, learn more about the curricular plan and expectations, and, of course, to ask questions.

    • Kindergarten:  September 3rd at 5pm

    • 1st: September 1st at 6pm

    • 2nd: September 1st at 5pm

    • 3rd:  September 2nd at 5pm

    • 4th:  September 2nd at 6pm

  • 3.  Families should plan to come to SRES on August 31st between 10am-3pm to pick up a case, device (if needed), complete new technology paperwork, pick up an All About Me/This is Me project for the first week of school as well as other paperwork.

    • IF YOU HAVE A DEVICE AT HOME, PLEASE BRING IT WITH YOU AS WE NEED TO VERIFY THE ASSET TAG AND PLACE IT IN THE CASE.  Once you receive your device/case, the device should remain in the case AT ALL TIMES (even when in use).

    • Families will also be asked to update our Enrollment Verification Form, including emergency contact information; it is very important that we have three current emergency contacts on file.

    • We will have 2 lines (K-2 and 3-4), please wear a mask and social distance.

  • 4.  First week of school:

    • Group A (in-person T/W half days; remote Th/F (8:30 Morning Meeting each day and work on All About Me/This is Me project)

    • Group B (remote T/W (8:30 Morning Meeting each day and work on All About Me/This is Me project); Th/F in-person)

  • 5.  Please read our Supervisory Union’s Extreme Heat Procedures (Extreme Heat Procedures.pdf )

Lastly, if you are planning to educate your child/ren outside of the SRES hybrid model or the online VTVLC (deadline has passed to register), PLEASE email me and/or call the school.   The more prepared we can be for students, the smoother our start will be (teachers are labeling materials with student names as I write this letter!).  Thank you.

Enjoy the weekend!  See you Monday for device/case/paperwork pick up (remember:  if you have a device at home, please bring it with you).
